HSN is a large, diversified retailer that offers wares through a number of different media options, social interaction and community events. The first shopping network founded 35 years ago, HSN now broadcast live to 95 million households in the US in high definition, 24 hours a day. They offer plenty in the way of exclusive clothing, fashion and homeware products. These products include brand names such as Trish McEvoy, Carol’s Daughter, Jean Dousset, Bissell, Martha Stewart, Carlos Falchi, Panasonic, Nintendo and many others.
Customers who make purchase with the HSN credit card will have the power to purchase much more than other traditional branded store cards. HSN even maintains a special Cardholders Offers section on their website.
HSN offers a standard store card and a MasterCard, and the main difference between them is that the store card offers VIP financing options, while the MasterCard has a point rewards scheme as well as financing options.
HSN Credit Card
With this card you get 0% interest for 9 months for purchases made over $399, if you pay the entire amount within 9 months. As a part of this financing option you are required to make monthly payments as per the agreement. Make sure that you stick to this agreement and do not make late payments, otherwise you will incur interest (26.99%) on the entire amount applied from when you made the purchase. Other benefits include FlexPay and exclusive cardholder discounts. Normal APR on purchases is 26.99%. No annual fee. No balance transfers or cash advances available. Penalty APR Is 28.99%. Late payment and returned payment fees $35/$25 respectively.
The HSN MasterCard gives you all the benefits of the store card, plus a point scheme which gives you 3 points for HSN spends and 1 point for spends made anywhere else. Once you reach 900 points you will receive a free shipping coupon. This reward isn’t much, but with both cards you can sign up for the MyCardsExtras scheme and earn gift cards, price-protection and returns-guarantee benefits.
Normal APR on purchases is 21.24%, and 22.24% for cash advances and balance transfers. Penalty APR is 24.99%. Minimum interest charge $1. No annual fee. Late payment and returned payment fees up to $35.
Given the 21.24% APR, not only is this card very competitive with other store credit cards, it is also competitive with general purpose credit cards.
The HSN credit card is issued by Comenity Bank and Comenity has standard dispute resolution procedures in place if you have an issue with your card or a transaction. The procedure requires you notify them in writing to begin the resolution process. Within 30 days of receiving your notice they will contact you letting you know they have received it. If the issue has not yet been resolved when you get the first response, within 90 days of receiving your notice they will contact you again. They will either have corrected the issue, or provide an explanation why they believe the bill is correct. During this process they will not try to collect any disputed amount from you and they will not report any disputed amount to any credit reporting agencies.
The terms of service contains a standard arbitration agreement which may be rejected by the cardholder. To reject the standard Arbitration Agreement you must send a written notice rejecting arbitration within 30 days of receiving your account agreement or notice of your right to reject. If you reject the Arbitration Agreement, only a court may be used to resolve any dispute or claim.
In the rare event that the parties fail to resolve the dispute, if you have not provided a written rejection notice of the arbitration agreement, the parties agree via the terms and conditions to resolve the dispute via arbitration. Should this occur, the party asserting a claim must provide the other party with written notice and an opportunity to cure of not less than 30 days.
