Searching for the Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card? Reward Credit cards have risen in popularity over recent years, as consumers look to get something back for the money they have spent. Reward credit cards offer the cardholder the chance to accumulate rewards from a wide ranging array of purchases, from general groceries, to even holidays and flights. With many different reward credit cards on the market it is easy to get bogged down, but the Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card offers many enticing features.
There is a list of basic requirements that must be met to be accepted for a Diamond Preferred; including an age of over 18 and a social security number. However, Citi usually only accept applications from those with a good to excellent credit score, more often than not over 700. Here we will look at some of the key selling points of the Citi Diamond Rewards Card.
Like many of Citi’s cards, there are some fantastic introductory bonuses to entice the customer. You can expect a 12 month introductory offer of 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers. This impressive and generous period gives you plenty of time to get you debts in order. After the initial 12 months introduction the APR ranges from 11.99% to 21.99%, with the lower end being reserved for those with an excellent credit score.
Obviously if you are in the market for reward credit cards then a key factor is the actual reward program itself. The one offered on the Diamond Preferred is easy to understand and although not stand out is a solid offering. Quite simply with every dollar you spend you earn one point to be used on the Citi ThankYou Network. You can redeem your points for things such as hotels, items from the retail sector and gift vouchers. Yet again the introduction offered is high quality, giving Citi Diamond Rewards Card holders the chance to earn five points per dollar at certain venues such as gas and groceries for the first 6 months.
One of the dangers of modern transactions is the threat of fraud or theft. Luckily the Citi Diamond Rewards Card gives the benefit of no liability in the case of such mishaps. All unauthorized transactions will result in no fee for the cardholder. While traveling you can take advantage of the Citi Concierge Service, as well as free travel and car rental insurance. The latter is available even if you do not accept the rental company’s standard insurance.
This card has some down sides, which come in the form of fees. Despite carrying no annual fee the Diamond Reward Card hits those who neglect their account fairly hard. As with all cards it is expected to be punished for missed payments, and the Citi Diamond Rewards Card incurs a $39 charge for late payments, while the same fee applies for exceeding the credit limit.
After the introductory period ends the Diamond Rewards card starts to be similar to any other reward credit card on the market. However if you can take full advantage of the stunning introductory features then the Diamond Rewards Card could be the card for you. Hoping to find a reward credit card? Determining which credit card you want to apply for can be determined by the types of rewards programs offered by the credit card companies if they offer rewards that work for you. If your credit score is good and you pay your credit card bills on time each month then there are a variety of reward credit cards open to you.
What to look for:
You want to examine any rewards program offered by credit card issuers carefully. Look for cards that offer multiple types of rewards programs including cash back and purchasing your discounts. You want to be able to use the card anywhere and still get your cash back or discounts so look for cards that don’t restrict you to their purchasing site or brand. Make sure you are not paying more in fees or interest charges than you will benefit from a rewards program. Here are a list of cards with rewards programs for your consideration.
Reward Credit Card Review
TrueEarnings card from Costco American Express. This card is open to Costco members only so you will have to pay the membership fee at Costco to qualify for this card. This card offers a cash back program on almost any purchase. There is no other annual fee for the card except the Costco membership fee. You get 1% cash back on any purchase at Costco or any other purchases made anywhere with the card. There are higher cash back offers for purchases in the travel category including 3% for restaurants, 2% for travel and 3% for gas purchases. The rewards are redeemable at Costco for cash or merchandise.
Discover it® Card. Discover it card while not accepted at all retail or travel locations does offer a 5% cash back reward on the first $1,500 spent in selected categories of purchases made with the card. Discover’s cash back categories change quarterly as determined by the company. You get 1% cash back on all other purchases made using the card. There are spending caps or limits on some of the category purchases. The rewards can be redeemed for merchandise, gift cards and other types of rewards.
American Express Blue Cash. The Blue Cash card offers up to 5% in cash back rewards according to different categories in a program very similar to the Discover cash back program. The categories stay the same with the Blue Cash card including gas, grocery, drug store and other everyday purchases. For non-category purchases made with the card you get 1.25% cash back. None of the cash back rewards kick in until you use the card for $6,500 in purchases per year. Until you have reached that limit you receive 1% cash back on everyday purchases and 0.5% on all other purchases made with the card. So if you are not likely to spend at least $6,500 a year on this credit card go with another card.
Reward credit cards are credit cards that generally offer some type of reward for purchases made using the card. The best reward credit cards offer rewards such as cash back and points on purchases while some offer travel and hotel rewards as well. Reward credit cards are generally for people with a good to excellent credit card score or credit rating.
