If you have great credit the Blue Cash credit card from American Express could be a great credit card to own. With the Everyday version of Blue Cash there is no annual fee. It’s a given with American Express that you get great customer service.

Cash Back Program

The cash back program has no minimum spending requirement, no enrollment and no restrictive list of categories that you are limited to. The cash back program pays you 3% on grocery purchases, 2% on gas or department store purchases and 1% cash on everything else. Rewards can be redeemed for statement credit, gift cards or merchandise. If you set up a bill paying service for such items as insurance bills, phone bills etc. you can earn cash back on those too.

0% introductory offer

American Express is currently offering a 0% APR introductory offer on purchases for the first year as long as your account is in good standing. There is a relatively high APR of 17.24% to 22.24% after the introductory period is over so it is a good practice to pay off your balance each month.

Travel Discounts/Benefits

The Blue Savings program provides you discounts on hotel stays, car rentals, and cruises. If you book rooms at JW Marriott or Renaissance Hotels you get free breakfast and a $100 discount on your next stay. Card membership also provides you with up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance and delayed or air travel lost baggage insurance up to $2,000

Purchase Refunds

If you suffer from buyer remorse for something you bought using the Blue Cash card and you have lost the receipt or the store refuses to take it back then you are covered with your Blue Cash card. If you find yourself in this position and it is less than 90 days since the purchase American Express will refund you up to $300 per item up to $1,000 annually. This offer does exclude any shipping and handling fees.

No Over Limit Fees

In 2009 American Express removed all over limit fees. If your account is in good standing and you pay your bills on time you will not have to pay a fee for going over your credit limit. See also, American Express Cards
